Consumers Health Journal is a health and wellness publication built on a simple position. Cite everything, skip the hype, and be honest about what the research does and does not show.

We cover diet and fitness, gut health, weight loss, sleep and recovery, and stress. These are the areas where the gap between what gets marketed and what the evidence supports is widest, and where a careful reading of the research is most useful.

What makes us different

Most health content online falls into one of two traps. It either oversells thin evidence to drive a sale, or it hedges so heavily that it says nothing at all. We try to do neither.

Every factual claim links to a primary source. Peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, and government health agencies. Not other blogs, not brand websites.

We match our confidence to the evidence. When research is strong and replicated, we say so plainly. When a finding comes from one small study, we tell you that too, right next to the claim.

We explain our methods. Our product recommendations come from reading the research and evaluating formulations, not hands-on testing. Our review methodology page explains exactly how that works.

We disclose how we make money. The site is supported by our readers, and some articles may contain affiliate links in the future. Our affiliate disclosure explains how we keep that separate from our editorial judgment.

Who writes the articles

Articles are written under the site’s editorial bylines. Mara Wells covers gut health, sleep, and stress. Drew Callahan covers diet, fitness, and weight loss. Every article goes through the same process regardless of byline. Research review, source verification, and a style check against our editorial standards.

As the site grows, we plan to add credentialed medical reviewers to the editorial process.

A note on medical advice

We are a publication, not a medical provider. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and our articles are not a substitute for talking to your doctor. This matters most with supplements, which can interact with medications and health conditions.
